Diego Lobato

Diego Lobato was born in Madrid in 1995. At the age of 8 he began his musical education at the Conservatorio Amaniel with Pablo Fernández, his first clarinet teacher.

Between 2015 and 2017 he pursued a bachelor's degree at the Madrid Royal Conservatoire with Prof. Pedro Garbajosa, studies which he continued and completedbetween 2017 and 2020 at the Zurich University of theArts (ZHdK) with Prof. Fabio di Cásola.

During his bachelor studies he learned bass clarinet withprofessors Filipa Nunes (Zurich Opera House) and Bernard Röthslisberger (Bern Symphony Orchestra), as well as E-flat clarinet with professors Jorge Gil and Justo Sanz.

His growing interest in jazz and improvisation led him tostudy saxophone with Áyax Lorente and jazz improvisation with guitarist Stefan Melovski.

As a teacher, Diego has worked during the past sevenyears with pupils of all ages.

His orchestral experience spans from 2010 until today, and includes collaborations and projects with professionalorchestras such as Royal Concertgebouworchestra ("Sideby Side Project") or Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (participation in the first concert of the 2017/18 season).

He has been principal clarinetist with JORCAM (Madrid Youth Orchestra) between 2017 and 2019 and since 2010 solo clarinetist of the JMJ Youth Orchestra of Madrid and played under conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, José Luis Temes or Victor Pablo Pérez, in the most prestigioushalls in Spain.

Diego has attended masterclasses with Bela Kovacs (Franz Liszt Hochschule für Musik) Michael Whight (Royal Philarmonic Orchestra), Miguel Espejo (ORTVE), Javier Balaguer (Orquesta Nacional de España), Hedwig Swimberghe (Royal Conservatory of Brussels), Radovan Cavallin (OFGC), among others.
